“Nothing happens until you decide.”
“If you bring forth what is in you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is in you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” ~Gregg Braden
Of all the foibles of humankind, procrastination just might be at the top of the pyramid.
Let’s start by thinking about what our world might look like if the following two people in history kept putting off till tomorrow what was in their heart to do:
The Eiffel Tower never would have made it from the imagination of Gustave Eiffel to the most visited, iconic, romantic monument in the world.
The Special Olympics evolved from a once-a-year sports day camp started by Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Millions now benefit from her idea that she put into action.
What idea are you harboring in your mind that you haven’t freed yet from its tether of procrastination?
Is it an idea that would serve others? Would it benefit your family by earning an extra income? Would it give you the gift of a creative outlet that would bring fulfillment and pride?
In the words of Pastor Joel Osteen, “if God is speaking to you about areas you’ve been putting off, don’t regard this as condemnation. God is trying to take you to a higher level. If you’ll do your part and be quick to obey, you won’t fall into the procrastination trap, you won’t place your treasure in a bag with holes in it. God wants to do His part, it’s time for you to do yours.”
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” ~William Hutchison Murray
